Brian and Ruth Christine November 2002 Newsletter

OK, I can take a hint. so many people have written urging a book by Ruth and I that it is overwhelming. Nevertheless, I don't have the conviction to write a book at this time, but we have decided to start writing, hence this newsletter. We've very much the spontaneous patchwork type, the thought of a book is almost frightening... too much closure. But perhaps we will tackle one down the road.

Thus begins this first edition, a monthly work compiled of tidbits, ideas and knowledge to be shared with you. All are welcome to read and may God enlarge your territory through any material knowledge gained herein. Permission is granted to copy and distribute in entirety. Same for portions, provided proper credits are listed and context is preserved. This is about freedom and the distribution of truth, so we won't be asking for money or donations. If you still feel compelled to help out in any way, contact the publisher or web author. We're not sure how the publishing of the hard copies will get handled, but I'm sure some of you will rise to the challenge. This newsletter is not published by an organization, a religion, a group, a gang, a company or an association.

What About Suffering?

A friend of ours recently had an addition to their large family, a little baby girl. All babies are somewhat fragile but also amazingly resilient by God's grace and design. This baby was born with an open back. Fluid in the brain can freely drain down and out the open spine which can cause anything from brain damage to paralysis or even death. She lives on, weeks later but may be paralyzed from the waist down.

Why would God who says He knits us together in our mother's womb, fail to knit this child's back together? Obviously He didn't forget or get distracted during this job of paramount importance. It's also not for lack of care or attention, for He knows the number of hairs atop each of our heads and He calls all the billions of stars each by name, He created every one of them! I've never seen God do anything without purpose.' Everything He does always results in grace and mercy. His loving kindness is everlasting.

So what is it about this child that God has done this? If she were born 200 years ago, she'd have died for sure shortly after birth, but guess what? She wasn't! She was born today and in a place where she can and will survive. That is no accident.

And what if she did die? I'd still be here writing the exact same things because I know God, I know He is everlasting mercy and He is unchanging. He is the only stable thing outside this whole creation. We do not yet understand why the atoms that make up our universe and all their tiny sub-particles don't fly apart, and yet our Bible for nearly two millennia tells us all things are held together by the grace of Jesus Christ! What a miracle!

Though I as a positive thinker, I don't want anyone to think that I handle suffering any better or differently than most. In my own suffering of being separated from my family and enduring this imprisonment, I often find my heart in utter anguish and I complain against God for it. "Why did you ever make me a family when You were going to let it be broken apart? Why have you rewarded my own sacrifice and obedience with this man-made hell? But inside, deep down in the marrow, I know this is a necessary stepping stone for the establishment of my family in a place of grace in the future. And that future is sooner than any of us realize! If anything, this suffering has made me one of the most compassionate and understanding of husbands/fathers/mentors/friends.

I look at that unsewn back as a tapestry started at both ends and unfinished in the middle for a reason. It is to be filled in by us, to teach us love and mercy. To teach us to be thankful for what we've learned about our fearfully and wonderfully made bodies and to aid and assist in their repair as doctors do. And also to cause us to pray and literally bridge the gap. God sees our tears, even my own as I write here at this prison table.

That baby is a miracle, not a problem, not a defect. She is both a light and a hope in a torn world. Who knows how many lives she will touch... how many lives she already has touched and she can't even speak a word, can't even kick her little legs when she cries and yet she is a bold witness, a warrior in this land.

So what is suffering? I think it's like glue. It sticks us together. "God forgive me for all my complaining and all my grumbling. I won't lie to you and say I won't grumble any more because I know I am just dust and in my failure to understand I cry out. I don't even realize how often I bring pain on my own head! Please give us all extra mercy and give us hearts of clay, not iron. Let us use every tool to our own advantage and to the building of Your kingdom. Keep us from kicking at the goads and remember our frailty. Wrap us up in your bundling love and never let us forget that You are here with us in each and every trial. See and feel our tears and be quick to respond to us in our distress." Amen -

Following is a listing and description of ten things that are important to me. This is a fun and revealing exercise. Before you read my list, please grab a pen and paper and write down your own list of ten things that are important to you. This way it will be untainted by my own list.

I intend to include a list from one person every month on this. So go and do it now, go on.... .... OK, now you have a list that you can refer to when life gets crazy and you wonder whether you've lost your sanity? Chances are, your destiny lies somewhere in the fruition of these ideals and I encourage you to chase those dreams and be an overcomer, for a history-maker you are! :) '

Now I'll let you read mine, and be careful not to compare lists in a condemning way, we're all different like the snowflake and we all have our own contribution to make. Verna M. Kelly wrote "Snowflakes are one of nature's most fragile things, but just look what they do when they stick together."

Ten Things That Are Important To Me

(1) Worship.
To worship God in unity and harmony with a multitude of fellow believers and followers of Jesus. This worship is wholehearted, uncaring of what you look like, it is a total surrender to God and is expressed in singing, music by instruments, dance, art and all other expression of love to our maker.

(2) Ease of Suffering.
Although suffering is what often grows us best, my desire is to ease the suffering both physical and emotional/spiritual of those in my realm of influence. I desire to be an ocean of peace and a place of rest for the weary.

(3) Encouragement.
To encourage the discouraged and to lift up the downtrodden.

(4) Integrity.
To conduct oneself in an upright manner befitting a chivalrous knight or hero great or small. Behavior is especially important in the finer details of life. If one holds integrity in the little things (s)he is more likely to keep integrity in bigger tasks.

(5) Honor.
To honor is to recognize that which is noble and to award that act or person the respect properly due. All acts of valor are to be honored.

(6) Truth.
Truth is fundamental to all things, in fact it is a foundation of God's very throne! It is important to remember that truth comes from God above and so our perception of truth is often clouded by a thousand dusty distortions. We must always be striving for truth first in our own life and only then for the body (of Christ).

(7) Strength of Character.
Strength is important to me, it is the meaning of my name and there is more strength packed in this little earthly tent than most people will ever realize. Strength of character is difficult to explain but reveals itself in God's elect over the course of time. Some may live their whole lives without another soul realizing the secret strength residing within that one. But come judgment day we will all see with perfect clarity the true character of all. Strangely we will see that many of those considered to be the weakest were actually stronger than a thousand others combined!

(8) Boldness.
Boldness is a requirement to approach the throne of God. It is a fine line between boldness and presumption. Presumption is boldness without humility or a proper respect of order. Humility is recognizing who and what you really are. Boldness is acting in God's grace and power n His authority. Children are very bold and in many ways we need to mimic them in their innocent boldness.

(9) Growth and Effeciency.
Stagnation leads to build-up of slime which in turn leads to festering stinking wretchedness. Open flowing streams run cool and clean and are a blessing beyond measure. How inviting on a hot summer day is a warm stinking still and stagnant algae filled pond? Water in motion will choose the path of least resistance in most cases but when it flows over or around stones, turbulence results. Air is dragged down into the water and bubbles back to the surface aerating the water with vital oxygen and other elements. This is a picture of how we are to work. We should strive for the most efficient path, yet when we do encounter barriers we need to flow around them and that adaptability in motion is what builds wisdom. Wisdom and knowledge allow us to go on surviving. "For lack of knowledge My people perish."

(10) Humility.
I believe humility is the most critical yet undervalued quality a person can have. A child clothed in humility is ten thousand times stronger than the world's champion Iron-Man draped in boastful awards and medals. In humility we can confess our human frailty and honestly own up to our shortcomings which is many times harder than we like to admit. In our own selfish pride we act outwardly as if we are OK, like we're big enough to take on the world and win. In humility we know we're naked poor blind and wretched but by God's Power we do take on the world and win :) ! Most of our victories won't be revealed or even apparent this side of eternity but rest assured, God has infallible accountants and we won't see any Enron scandals on His watch!

"Modern Science"

During my education at Purdue University I enrolled in a wide variety of courses too numerous to list here. One class that stands out in my mind was a course on dinosaurs taught by a well known expert in the field. I've always thought a little different and tend to question the status quo (I guess that's pretty obvious huh :) Anyway, Part of the course covered dating methods and particularly the radio-carbon 14 technique. Upon considering the method, I immediately noticed a few rather critical problems with the technique. It is based on the assumption that carbon 14 has always existed in the same concentrations as it does today. There are several other assumptions that seemed rather glaring to me.

I was excited because here I had at my disposal an expert in the field. I raised my hand and asked how such assumptions affect the validity of this dating method. I was shocked at the angry answer (really more of a rebuke) I received... "Radio-carbon dating is accepted worldwide by the whole scientific community!" Now that's progressive thinking huh? Subsequently, every other time I raised my hand in that class I was ignored, such a trouble maker I guess!

So by this line of reasoning, the world should still be flat and men can't fly. Whatever! But I did learn a valuable lesson from this deeply religious (evolution is more a faith than a supportable theory) evolutionary theologian... I learned that to find the answers I was seeking I would have to look for them elsewhere, on my own, and that's just exactly what I did. Several years later I read a book entitled "In the Beginning, Compelling Evidence for Creation and a Global Flood". I have never seen a more comprehensive compilation of knowledge and across the board information explaining global history, geology, origins, you name it, it's in there! Many of the theories I had come up with on my own in my studies of astronomy, archaeology, geology, biology and physics were IN THIS BOOK! I was absolutely elated. It wasn't very long before our church embraced the book and taught a class right on Purdue University's campus. I and my good friend Nathan Guthrie took the class.

The book has since been updated and refined and I enjoyed reading it cover to cover during my stay in the Douglas County Jail in Roseburg, Oregon early this year. I now know the material so well that I would like to teach an unofficial class from this book here in prison. A number of inmates have expressed the desire to attend. In fact just last night I attended a Bible study put on here by a few highly appreciated civilian fellows me who are covering Creation and Current Events on Earth. The class has quickly ballooned to over 50 inmates and growing. We will very soon outgrow the room we're in now. The inmates are starved for REAL and TRUE information. Basically, the only way I can teach this class is for someone on the outside to order a book for each participant. I do not yet even have a copy myself. We are banned from sharing books here and if we are caught with another person's book we can be thrown in the hole, lose our job, be fined and punished. A Warning

I'm sitting here in prison reading the September 27th 2002 issue of "The Oregonian". I'm shaking my head at the insanity that Oregon has become. Right here in Pendleton Oregon where I'm serving a 12 1/2 year sentence, a man was sentenced to 17 1/2 years for the strangulation murder of his girlfriend. So this man will be 'rehabilitated just a few short years behind me. He kills another human being in cold blood and I take my children back in love, in desperation, but they call it robbery?

Next article, a Washington man facing the three strikes=1ife law knew that assault would be a felony just the same as taking it 'all the way. In court he was reported to say "you get the same amount of time for an assault as for murder, so I just went ahead and off-ed her." My God, what has our nation come to? No direction, no clear guidance from above, the blind leading the blind. Mark my words, we are about to fall into a pit that we will not get up out of, and ye dug it!

There is no justice in this land, but justice is coming. It will be more severe than most could ever dream. We have turned a blind eye to the killing of babies, to the drugging of our children, to the disrespect of God our provider and maker in the worst ways imaginable. I've read many places in my Bible where God says "be kind to the sojourner, to the alien and to the fatherless when they visit your land, for you were such in Egypt. If you mistreat, abuse or rob such I will make you fatherless and your children orphans. Be careful that you do not mistreat such as these lest they cry out to Me for mercy and My hand turn against you to deliver them."

Well I, a fatherless child, and Ruth, an alien, and five little state-induced orphans are crying out to God day and night for justice.

In the beginning when Oregon took our three daughters in a single afternoon from our motor home, I wrote a stern letter demanding them back, that God had given us charge of our daughters and that they are defying God Himself. They did not respond or give our daughters back. We then delivered a 'notice of default and penalties due' in which I stated that they would witness with their own eyes and in their own bodies the wonders of God (judgments). I said "Let my Children Go!" and Oregon said "Never!" They were given a warning and they laughed. Since then, Oregon has experienced it's largest wildfire ever, fish dying along it's coast and rivers, financial bankruptcy, port disruptions, exposure of scandal after scandal and what will it be next? I have stopped praying for God to release us through means of the system and I now pray for God to utterly destroy the system to deliver us in His power so that men will see and give glory to God. If Oregon will not let us go, and you the people of Oregon do not fight and pray and grieve over all the wickedness of this evil state, then you will be in grave danger of being wiped away in the coming destruction. But praise God for all you who are fighting and praying and grieving, you will know peace and shelter in famine and devastation.

I already know Oregon will not let us go. Just like Pharaoh, God has given this people a stubborn and hardened heart. Oregon will not turn away from it's pride nor submit to God as Lord. Oregon says "No, we will find our own way, we will strive until we find the perfect policy and all will be well" but God says "Not So! Your policies will become as dust and your power will fail you, I will give the land to the meek, to my faithful ones and they shall rule with a kind heart and I will grant them true power, power from above."

Personally, I'm crying out for mercy from God. David did the same and even said "Oh Lord, let me not fall into the hands of man for they have no mercy". I have found this to be true in my own life. I don't even ask for mercy from the state any more, there is no mercy there, only hatred, persecution and evil. Many talk of the road to reform. I've spent many hours on my face in tears crying out to God for mercy on our nation, for repentance in the church, for humility in our land, God is witness to it. One day in 1998 the Holy Spirit restrained me from asking for mercy any more for America. Others I know whom God had been using as prayer warriors for the States experienced the same thing. Since that time we've been living on borrowed time. God has slowly been lifting His restraint from us. Our own courts have declared we are no longer a nation 'under God'.

I've had dreams and visions all my life of the troublous end of days and my whole life has been training for this time that we are now on the threshold of! We will go to war with Iraq, but it will not go well for us. In fact it will be the fuse*that ignites a horrible conflict. This conflict will serve two purposes. (1) It will remove the United States from world dominance, but more importantly (2) it will remove Israel's false security in our protection. You see, God is a jealous God and right now, Israel looks to us as God. In fact, many millions of Israelites refuse to leave the comfort of this nation to return to their homeland, but God says "You will come out of her trembling and return to your own land." They will not leave until our power, wealth and military protection is removed. When America is reduced to rubble in a single hour, then many nations will turn towards Israel swords bared. There will be a horrible battle mentioned in Ezekiel. After this bloody battle, the earth will be very ravaged and it will be the perfect time to "make peace" because people will be so sick of war and bloodshed. The time will be ripe for the entrance of a very famous one. Those will be the very last days, the ones that God will have to cut short or all flesh would die.

This is the point where the majority of the churches teach that we will all be caught up to escape the sufferings and judgments here on earth, very understandable for our 'blessings and comfort' style of faith. The Word says faith with persecution. How many so called believers in America would completely fall away at the slightest cost? I'm afraid the majority would. And where does is say in the Bible "invest your possessions, deny the poor and follow me to an exclusive, executive neighborhood of mocha houses"? Where does it say "pick up your cross and escape judgment and fly away to heaven when the going gets tough"? It's no wonder that when it does get hard, "the love of many will wax cold". Most people these days are sissies in the faith. Who is sacrificing? The cross is death, not escape! Grow up! Stop drinking milk and eat some flesh! Hebrews 5:12-14

How soft we've become! Are my words convicting? Does it raise the heckles? Praise God! May my words NEVER tickle the ears. No, in me there is a fire lit by God Himself. Yes, I've been baptized first by water and now by fire! If you are reading these words, take heed, God is coming, He's even here already. Who sends the four horsemen? Is it Satan or is it God? Who initiated Job's ordeal, was it Satan or was it God? People, we have a false concept of Jesus. He is both a lion and a lamb. He came first as a lamb, laying down His life for the promise of His bride, but believe this, He's returning as a Lion, a hard-core warrior, riding on a horse wielding a sword. If you want 'peace' then go ride with antichrist, he'll gladly recruit you!

Now is the time to find your calling. Do now what you've always been afraid to do. It is not too late to overcome the world. I cannot stress to you, God's people, how important it is for you to overcome the world NOW before the world overcomes you in a few short days. God has sent me to warn you and I do so with fear and trembling. I have never seen war before, save in my dreams yet I know just how terrible it is. We need to lean 100% on Jesus. If we continue to lean on our own understanding we will die. Overcome!
