The Anti-Government Edition

Well, since they placed the label on us, we might as well play along, at least for this issue anyways. So for July, the month we Amerikans celebrate our dependence, er... I mean independence from an oppressive, over-taxing, privacy-invading, unjust government, we will play the part of the evil, sinister anti-goverment faction. Those evil citizens who dared question the authority and moral superiority of redcoats and the status quo, go-with-the-flow pansies that refused to stand up for their own rights and their own families. This issue is not for the faint of heart (not your physical one dummy!) or the weak of stomach (lacking intestinal fortitude).

Yes, it's true, I admit it. I am this arrogant, that I believe we all possess the strength, capability and dignity to govern ourselves: By God's grace, guidance and utilizing the conscience He gave each of us, "For my Law is written on the hearts of men". We can and we should.

Once upon a time, parents ( American parents!) taught their children about self control. Of course this concept has gone the way of the dinosaurs and a public profession of the mere intention to impose it on a child will land you a sweet spot in jail. But if you have to do it, just don't talk about it. Talking about it raises the crime to the level of conspiracy which will attract the feds and now all your family and friends are going to prison. Numerous times I've seen an actual crime carry a less severe punishment than conspiracy to commit the same crime! I've even heard of a case against a man whose alleged crime is attempted conspiracy!

I'm still baffled by that one. How can you attempt to conspire? You either conspire or you don't, or did they arrest the guy because they knew he was going to 'think' about conspiring to commit a crime? Real life thought police, that's our FBI for ya.

Prison is going ok for us. I am thankful for God's many blessing on my life, especially this time in prison. I am growing by leaps and bounds and that's a free ticket too! Hallelujah!

Ruth has received paperwork from INS threatening deportation upon prison release. Who knows what will really happen in the end? But even though our future looks hopeless and bleak through the world's eyes, I believe God glit have mercy on us and restore us all together. Of the promises God has made to us, several state thata will bring our children to us from the land of their captivity. I don't really understand what that means, but it sounds like He's going to bring rather than us going to get. So all we have to do is wait.

For those of you praying for a miracle, don't stop now. Things seem rather shaky in DOC right now. Oregon just won't let go of it's death grip on building up and increasing it's prison system/population. Despite difficult budget challenges and an ever decreasing tax revenue, Oregon is calling for greater spending on prisons, even building new ones as they cut funding to poor, handicapped citizens, medications to state dependents and education. The two departments with the most fluff are 1. Human Services / Children and Family Services with it's bloated crew of child psychologists, interrogators and perverted sex abuse examiners who themselves abuse the children and 2. DOC with it's unnecessary administrative positions and very overpaid glut of prison guards.

There has been constant fighting here between Mexicans which caused the prison to go into lock-down mode for over a week. The Mexicans are assembled into gangs and they fight at all costs, even unto death. This is costing DOC and you, the taxpayer a lot of extra money all because Oregon wants to 'reform' illegal aliens who are scheduled for deportation upon release. And they themselves tell me that they come back to Oregon/California in less than twenty-four hours from stepping off the plane in Mexico.

But I should be surprised at none of this, after all it's just a figment of my warped 'anti-government' imagination. Current Oregon Corrections Director Benjamin de Haan said it best, "Revenge is Expensive".

Eagle Behaviour by Ruth Christine

Commentary on the book The Way of the Eagles by Joe Garman & tv programming on eagles
Eagles are a part of many nations' flags and symbols - symbolizing authority, strength and power. Eagles fly directly into thunderstorms - God does not permit storms in our life to defeat us but for our benefit. Turbulent winds cause the eagle to fly higher, giving him a larger view, lifting him above harassment, allowing him to use less effort; and helping him to fly faster.

How did Isaiah (vs. 40:31) know back then that the eagle flew above the storm unless God had showed it to him?

Deuteronomy 32:7-12 says the first thing the eagle does is to stir up it's nest and a conservationist today said that baby eagles are the hardest to teach to fly - so the mother stirs up the nest to make the baby uncomfortable - just like it says in the Bible.

On a recent tv show about black eagles, it showed the mom dropping the baby eagles and then catching them again to try to get them to fly. They are the only birds that will give up on their baby if it won't learn to fly and just drop it, letting it fall. God sometimes has to stir us up, out of our security to get us ready so that we can fly too:-)

Did you know that an eagle knows when a storm is approaching long before it breaks? The eagle will fly to some high spot and wait for the winds to come. When the storm hits, it sets it's wings so that the wind will pick it up and lift it above the storm so that the eagle is soaring above it.

The eagle does not escape the storm. It simply uses the storm to lift it higher. It rises on the winds that bring the storm.

When storms of life come upon us, and all of us will experience them, we can rise above them by setting our minds and our belief toward God. The storms do not have to overcome us. We can allow God's power to lift us above them.

God enables us to ride the winds of the storm, that bring sickness, tragedy, failure and disappointment in our lives. We can soar above the storm. Remember, it is not the burdens of life that weigh us down, it is how we handle them.

The Bible says, "Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles." Isaiah 40:31

Advanced physics stolen from Apache County Reporter

A research institution announced the discovery of the heaviest chemical element yet known to science. The new element has been tentatively named Governmentium.

Governmentium has one neutron,12 assistant neutrons, 75 deputy neutrons and 224 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312.

These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons. Since governmentium has no electrons, it is inert. However, it can be detected as it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact. A minute amount of govemmentim causes one reaction to take over four days to complete when it normally would take less than a second.

Govemmentium has a normal half-life of three years: It does not actually decay, but instead undergoes a reorganization in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places.

In fact, govemmentium's mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganization will cause some morons to become neutrons forming isodopes.

This characteristic moron-promotion leads some scientists to speculate that governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a certain quantity in concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as: Critical Morass.

Things Not to Say to a Prisoner by Brian Christine

People say a lot of thoughtless, careless things, this has always been true. How often are we putting our foot in our mouth? All too often. I read what Job's 'friends' said to him and see how easy it is to condemn in place of comfort. Which of Job's friends had endured the unbelievable misfortune Job had? I doubt any of those guys had ever suffered one tenth of the tragedies that befell Job in a single day. How quickly do we open our mouths to utter things we know little or nothing about. Understanding and compassion so rarely access the floor. That's because hatred has the louder voice: "Crucify Him, Crucify Him!". Truly, we don't know what we do or we wouldn't do it.

I wanted to write this article to give non-prisoners a few tips on what not to say to prisoners so they might be a better encouragement to them. Something even my closest friends and family have said to me on numerous occasions is "it's hard out here too you know" as if there's any comparison. This is just not true and it is really offensive to a prisoner to hear this because, no, it's not hard out there! Sure you have more responsibilities (maybe not when I actually think about it) and pressures which are of course all self induced.

Do you have to raise your hand and ask to go to the bathroom in front of seventy-two grown men like a little kid? Do you have to have your whole body patted down by a stranger on your way to chow? Do you have to ask permission to sit at your dinner table so you don't get beat up or killed by 'disrespecting' someone?

Have you enjoyed just 30 seconds of privacy in years (or even just 30 seconds of not having to watch your back)? Do you have to worry about being raped or beaten by people four times your size who live four feet away from you?

Have you been in a riot where everything is on fire, all there is is smoke to breathe and the only way to survive is to hang with a pack? After visiting with your friend, do you have to strip naked in front of a total stranger as they tell you to hold out your penis for them to inspect, then lift it so they can see your scrotum, then turn around, bend over, spread your butt cheeks and cough? Have you endured a "finger sweep" where you are stripped naked as above and instructed to bend over as a stranger inserts his finger into your anus and/or vagina to "sweep" for contraband - and if you resist or refuse, they call in the 'goon squad' (12 guards in suits/masks) who proceed to pin you down, pull off your pants and force their finger into you?

Are you starting to see why it might be offensive and just plain not true to say "it's hard out here too you know?" Well no, I don't know, if it's so hard, let's trade places, and believe me, I won't piss and moan about all the 'burdens' that must be suffered out there!

I've learned to be thankful even for all these things above because they only make me stronger. How much more would I praise God for the freedom enjoyed out there. Just to be able to sit in a park and see a child playing, or to see the graceful way a woman moves.

Or to watch the sun set or rise. To breathe fresh, unrecirculated air. These very thoughts cause my heart to dance, Hallelujah! Well, that's enough advice for one article:-)

Higher Than I : A poem by Ruth Christine

The freedom, oh the freedom!
Just me and the open sky.
Green grass, green fields
No stresses, no burdens, I'm free!

Do you hear me God? Do you hear me?
My heart is calling to you Papa.
I want to be free.
Free to feel the sky,
Free to feel the greenness.
(Pressures to conform. Such a burden, such a heavy weight.)
I want to soak it all in, into my pores, into my very being.
I want to feel the sunshine on my face,
Warmth on my hair.
So much peace there.
Just to walk, and never stop walking...

Standing on the top of a hill,
Overlooking the world.
Standing on the edge,
if I step off, will I fly?

Could I fly?
I want to reach up to the sky, be drawn up into it, loose my-self in it.
The thing that is greater than me, the wheel, the journey, the thing that is higher than I

See those hills in the distance?
If I reached the top of them would I be free?
If I stood on the top, looking down on the world would I BE FREE?

Free of these burdens that drag me down.
Free of the pressures to conform.
Free of the darkness, the drab and dreary.
Free of the mundane.
Free of this world?

O Lord, I want to be free.
I want to sit on the mountain top,
and NEVER come down.
One with the light, one with the sky, one with the one that is higher than I

Psalm 61:1

Hear my cry, O God: listen to my prayer. From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint: Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

A Short Study on Matthew 13:10-11 by Brian Christine

I've always been curious as to exactly what Jesus meant in saying to his disciples "to you are given the mysteries of heaven, but not to them" (paraphrase). I think I just figured it out in part as of 2:38pm Sunday, June 15th, 2003, Father's Day. I always though it was pretty cold for Jesus to cut people off who'd come from far and wide to hear Him teach. He's purposefully blocking people out as in Matthew 13:11. But the simple difference between the disciples and the others is that first, He chose them and second, they were Him. The disciples left everything and followed Jesus. They didn't go back to their homes like all these gathered listeners would. If you want the truth, it's going to cost you everything and even giving everything up means nothing if you're not chosen and drawn first.
God has to make you an 'insider'. That deal is open to everyone, but just like it says, "many are called, few are chosen" Matthew 20:16.

Close - I hope you are on vacation in a hammock with your sweetie sipping iced tea by a swift stream flowing fresh from the snow- pack of a rocky peak. Or perhaps snorkeling off Florida's coast dancing with clown-fish amongst the bustling cities of coral. Just get out of the house and really live... in Jesus Name. Amen
